
Heidi Watney (born May 19 1981) is an American sportscaster and an editor for Apple TV+. She earned her degree from the University of San Diego and has been an sportscaster for several stations that include Time Warner Cable SportsNet, New England Sports Network in Boston, Time Warner Cable SportsNet Los Angeles, and two stations here in Fresno. Watney was a student at Clovis West High School in Fresno, participating in gymnastics, hurdles, diving and cheerleading. The school was home to a National Merit Scholar and attended the University of San Diego on an academic award, and she graduated with distinction in 2003. 2. Watney has competed in the Miss California USA pageant, in which she was the initial runner-up in 2002. Watney is the mother of professional golfer Nick Watney. The author Andy Weir stated he used Watney's surname to create the character "Mark Watney" in his 2011 science fiction novel The Martian after hearing her name on the Red Sox game broadcast. Watney appears in the music video for Dropkick Murphys ?T single "Going Out in Style".
