
Rosie Perez (born Rosa Maria Perez on the 6th of September 1964) is an American actress as well as choreographer, dancer and activist. Her first big break came with her role as Tina in the film Do the Right Thing (1989), then followed by White Men Can't Jump (1992). Perez's performance as Tina in Fearless (1993) brought her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Perez's starring roles in films include It Could Happen to You (1994), The Road to El Dorado(2000), Pineapple Express (2007), as well as Birds of Prey (2018). She also won three Primetime Emmy Award nominations (in 1990-1994) in addition to another Emmy nomination (2020-present) for her performance as The Flight Attendant. She has appeared in Broadway stage productions such as The Ritz and Frankie, Johnny in the Clair de Lune and Fish in the Dark. She also co-hosted on the ABC talk show The View during the series in the 18th season. She was a student at Grover Cleveland High School, in the Ridgewood neighborhood in Queens.
