Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian/American media critic and public speech writer. She created Feminist Frequency, a web site with video content and blogs analysing the way women are depicted in popular culture. Anita Sarkeesian is an award-winning feminist journalist from Canada and a blogger. Feminist Frequency is an educational and non-profit site that investigates representations of women in popular culture narratives. Aiming to break down the stereotypes associated with women in popular culture, she also tries to highlight issues related specifically to the harassment of women, as well as the marginalized groups of the Internet area. Sarkeesian who has an MA in Social and Political Thought in the field of social and political thought from York University, is also an extremely sought-after public presenter. She has spoken at TEDxWomen's XOXO and the United Nations Broadband Working Group to Gender. Interested in issues concerning gender, feminism and identity from an early age she launched her own website Feminist Frequency in 2009, while studying at the University. An ambitious woman set out to develop a web-series to study how gender is represented in games. Then, she found herself the target of an internet harassment campaign.
